At the beginning of March, Seymour House headed to the 3Foot People Party to bring families a taste of the Seymour House Nursery experience.
Each section of the immersive experience had exciting activities for families to take part in. These were themed to popular early years story books- The Very Hungry Caterpillar, The Tiger who Came to Tea, and We’re Going on a Bear Hunt.
The activities were focused on different age groups meaning that everyone could get involved. The Very Hungry Caterpillar was a calm, sensory area where younger children could develop their senses and let their exploratory mind evolve. There were bright green and red balloons in the shape of a caterpillar, finger puppets as caterpillars transforming into butterflies and a dedicated reading area.
For the older children, there were two different activities they could choose from. Crown making or making a bear mask. Both of these activities were very popular because not only could children get creative, they were also developing their fine motor skills using their small muscles in their hands and wrists.
Crown making was based on the book- The Tiger who Came to Tea. Children were able to decorate their own crowns with different shapes and colours to fit their personality! Not only did we have crown making available we also had a wooden kitchen with different accessories, so children could have their own tea party while making their crowns.
The enthralling book, We’re Going on a Bear Hunt, provided an exciting opportunity for children to immerse themselves in the story by making their own bear masks. They were able to draw their own bear face, add stickers in the shape of eyes and glue down shapes in a variety of shapes, sizes, and colours.
Our early years educators helped the children with their creations, praising them along the way. The themed story books were read throughout the event with enthusiasm and excitement which the children thoroughly enjoyed.
The event was a great success, and it was so wonderful to meet lots of young families and say hello to some of our families who are currently attending Seymour House.
We put together a short video showing all the highlights of the event.
