Frequently Asked Questions

We are always looking for passionate people to join our team. Below are some FAQs but feel free to contact us with the form below to ask anything you like.

We have a variety of opportunities at Seymour House with different qualification requirements.

For all of our Early Years Educator roles we require a minimum of a Level 3 qualification in Early Years.

Lunch Assistant and Relief Team opportunities do not require a Level 3 qualification, just a passion for providing outstanding care and education.

Similarly if you do not have a Level 3 qualification, but you are keen to commence a career in childcare, you may be interested in our Early Years Advanced Apprenticeship programme. You are eligible for this is you are aged 17 or over and have achieved a GCSE grade A*-C in English Language and Maths.

If you gained your qualification in a country other than the UK, then you will need to provide evidence that your qualification is full and relevant. Qualifications gained outside the UK can be verified via the UKNARIC website.

Once applications have been shortlisted, our team will contact you via phone to discuss our opportunities in more detail, and if you are successful, invite you to attend an interview.

Following the initial telephone call, you will be invited to attend a skype or video-call interview, where we will discuss your background and the role in more detail, and ask to you answer some competency based questions.

If you are successful, you will be invited to a second-stage interview with two of our Nursery Managers at the nursery setting. You will have the opportunity to take a tour of the the nursery, giving you an insight into our values and practice, and a chance to decide whether the position is the right role for you.

You will be asked to carry out a short activity with the children during this interview. You will be informed of the activity in advance of the interview so that you have time to prepare.

If you are a newly qualified applicant, or you have not previously worked in an Early Years setting before, then we appreciate this may be quite daunting, so you will be working alongside a Senior team member helping to carry out an activity.

The interview process is your opportunity to demonstrate your passion for Early Years Education, along with your skills and expertise. It is also your chance to see whether Seymour House is the right choice for you. Before the interview, have a read through the Interview Pack, which will be emailed to you, and think of how you can demonstrate your skills and enthusiasm. Ideally this will be by using examples from previous work, or placement experiences.

Our managers will tell you all baout what it is like to work for Seymour House, and the benefits you can expect, but have a think before the interview, of any questions you may have. You will have the opportunity to ask these at the interview.

Prepare your journey to the interview in advance – do you know exactly where the nursery is located, and how long it takes to get there? It does not create a good impression if you arrive late for your interview.

Also remember to dress smartly and appropriately for working in an Early Years setting.

You should bring with you evidence of your right to work in the UK. Ideally this will be your passport, however if you do not have a passport, then you can also provide a full birth certificate along with a document containing your national Insurance number. A full list of acceptable documents can be found here.

You should also bring with you your certificates for any qualifications that are required for the role.

If you are successful at the second stage interview, you will be contacted and offered a conditional offer of employment. This offer is condition upon us receiving 2 satisfactory references (One of which must be your current or most recent employer), an enhanced DBS disclosure, and proof of your qualifications and your right to work in the UK.
