Each of our 12 private nurseries across Essex and Hertfordshire provides the same safe, nurturing environment, where children have the best possible start to their educational journey.
Children are at the heart of everything we do
As a private nursery we’re independently owned and operated. Our story began when our founders, John and Julie, recognised the need for a nursery school that provided dependable childcare alongside outstanding early years education. They achieved this with the opening of their first private nursery at Broomfield Road, Chelmsford in 1988.
As more families wanted to come to Seymour House we began to grow. We now have private nurseries in Chelmsford, Basildon, Colchester, St. Albans, Wickford and Witham. Our newest setting, Channels Nursery, is a brand new, purpose built nursery opening in Chelmsford in Autumn 2025.
All of our nurseries are a perfect space for children to learn, grow and play in a calm yet stimulating environment. Children feel at home and families feel supported, secure in the knowledge their child is happy and well cared for.
Fuelling young minds in our private nurseries
The early years are such an important stage for learning, which is why we created our unique educational curriculum, the 5Cs. These help children develop their cognitive, social, emotional and physical skills through Communication, Co-operation, Curiosity, Creativity and Critical Thinking.
Our Early Years Educators use a range of early years teaching methods and resources, many of which we’ve created ourselves. We understand that every child is different and our 5Cs approach means we can easily adapt to the interests, abilities and age group of each child in our care. Our curriculum is taught through engaging activities and play, both indoors and outdoors. We make education fun to inspire a lifelong love of learning for everyone.
Fresh, tasty and nutritious meals
Developing healthy eating habits from a young age has a positive impact on our food choices later in life. This is why we created Nursery Kitchen. All our meals and snacks are specially prepared and packed with the nutrients needed for the early years age group. Together with Nursery Kitchen, we ensure that children receive healthy food made with the best and freshest ingredients, whilst also being kind to the planet through sustainable sourcing.
Mealtimes in our private nurseries are all part of the learning experience. The older children help with laying the table and pouring drinks, whilst everyone is encouraged to develop their independence by serving themselves. With the wonderful food provided, children are inspired to try new flavours and textures at nursery, and parents have access to resources to make the meals at home.
