Room Transitions

Moving to a new homebase room is a very exciting milestone, and we’re here to make your child’s journey full of smiles, confidence, and fun discoveries along the way!

Little Visits, Big Adventures
Before making the move to their new room, your child will enjoy exciting transition visits. These visits help them explore their new environment, meet new friends, and get to know their new Key Person in a gentle and familiar way.

Visits will take place at different times of the day so your child can experience all the exciting parts of nursery life, from exploring invitations to play with peers and creative learning opportunities to yummy mealtimes and cosy story sessions.
To help your child feel safe and secure, familiar Early Years Educators may join them on some visits, providing comfort and someone they can check in with while they build confidence and develop new friendships. Sometimes, they may even visit with some of their friends from nursery so they can experience this transition together.

Getting to Know Me
To help the new team learn all about your child, their current Key Person will create a transition ‘All About Me’. This shares important information, such as favourite learning experiences, routines, comforts, and recent achievements, helping us make the move feel smooth, familiar, and full of care.

Parents and carers are also invited to visit the new room, meet the team, and say hello to your child’s new Key Person ahead of the transition so that you, too, can feel supported throughout the change.

Transition Books
Each room has a Transition Book filled with fun and familiar pictures to help children feel excited and comfortable about their new environment. Inside, you might find photos of the team working in the room, favourite toys they might enjoy, and areas of the room, such as the toilet or nappy changing areas, that may be a little different from what they are used to.
